Sedona Getaway (New Date)

October 7, 2023 @ 10:00 am - October 8, 2023 @ 4:00 pm MST

I have received a few emails from people wanting to attend but not on short notice. Therefore, the trip has been rescheduled to October instead.

Come join us for an Adventure-filled weekend in the heart of Sedona! Amazing views combined with fun and challenging trails equals a perfect gateway from the oppressive Phoenix heat! This will be a two-day Adventure starting Saturday morning and wrapping up Sunday mid-afternoon. You can choose to come out on Saturday, Sunday or do both days. Please make sure to post in the comments which days you’ll be joining us!!!

Most of the trails are red and rated somewhere between 4-5. There aren’t any major rock crawling obstacles, just long and steep up/down hills that are either slick or loose rock with numerous rutted-out sections. Gladiators should have at least 35-inch tires and 2+ inch lifts. Stock 2 door/4door Jeeps can make it with careful tire placement. At least one locker would be highly beneficial ESPECIALLY on the Skeleton Bones trail but not required.

Hotels in Sedona are typically pricey so we are staying at the Thousand Trails RV Resort in Cottonwood, AZ The other option is to stay in Flagstaff. Both Flagstaff and Cottonwood are about 40 minutes away from Sedona.

These will be long 2 days so please make sure to bring enough food & drinks and top off your fuel tank each day.

SATURDAY:
Meetup point: 10:00 AM SAFEWAY PARKING LOT

We will begin the day with Broken Arrow trail. This is a short and fun trail that should take us a little over an hour to complete. It’s also the busiest one in all of Sedona so hopefully, it will be less crowded early in the morning.

The next Adventure will take us to Soldier’s Pass. This is a short, fun and memorable trail with a scenic stop at the Seven Sacred Pools. Trail is limited to 12 Jeeps and I have purchased the pass for us already so no need to obtain your own!

The third trail we will do and ONLY if we still have the time, will be the Blue Monster Trail. This is a moderate and scenic 3 to 4 trail cutting through the Prescott National Forest. I have not done this trail before but don’t expect any surprises given the “intermediate” difficulty rating.

SUNDAY:
Meetup point: 10:00 SAFEWAY PARKING LOT

We will start our morning by conquering Skeleton Bones. This is probably one of my favorite trails in Sedona. The trail itself is about six miles of steep, long but FUN hills. This trail can be completed within an hour or two.
YOUTUBE VIDEO Skeleton Bones section starts about 7 minutes into the video.

The end of Skeleton Bones will take us directly into the trailhead of Red Rock Powerline. Red Rock Powerline is short, scenic, and purdy. This trail should also take about 2 hours or so to complete before we all part ways and head back.
