Lake Havasu Adventure
November 10, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 pm MST
Let’s celebrate Veteran’s Day weekend on the trails at Lake Havasu! This is a great trip to bring your family alone as we’ll see amazing views over Lake Havasu, unique rock honeycombs at Rovey’s Needle and the creepy mining ghost town of “Swansea Townsite” Veterans, your drinks at the Desert Bar are on me!!!
This entire trip consists of Intermediate/BLUE trails suitable for stock Jeeps. For those of you that answered 3-5 as your preferred level of trail difficulty, this trip is for you!
if anyone with the RV would like to join me, I will be staying at the Campbell Cove RV Resort in Lake Havasu. Numerous reasonably priced hotels are in the area as well. Please make sure to book a place with a 3-day cancellation period as heavy rain could potentially force me to cancel the trip.
Day 1 Friday Nov 10th
The first trail we will conquer is called Bison Falls that will take us to an awesome overlook where we can admire the vastness of Lake Havasu. An optional fun and challenging “Bison Falls”, which is a rocky and steep hill awaits those with more capable rigs at the end of the trail before we turn around.

Second trail of the day is Cattail Cove & Rovey’s Needle. This is a fun high elevation climb to see the unique Rovey’s Needle geological formation and enjoy the views over Bill Williams River. My wife and I did this trail solo about halfway many years ago so I’m looking forward to finally completing it!

DAY 2: Saturday November 11th.
We will begin our day with a trip to Swansea Townsite and explore the ruins of the old ghost mining town circa 1909. Even though this is primarily an unpaved road, the destination is worth the trip. Many movies have been filmed here over the years and should be a fun place to explore.

Our second trail of the day will take us over a fun and challenging pass to a BAR in the middle of the desert hence “Backway to Desert Bar” This will be a rocky, narrow trail with steep climbs and descents and will be the hardest one of our trip. Once again, I think it’s easily passable in a stock Jeep with guidance and careful tire placement. If you can get over the gate keeper hill at the very beginning of this trail, you should have no problem completing the rest of it.

Day 3: Sunday November 12th
The last trail we will do on Sunday, before heading back to Phoenix is “Scott’s Well”. This is a scenic and moderate trail that should take about 3 hours to complete. We may skip this trail altogether if everyone wants to get back home instead.
