Burro Creek Overlanding Adventure
April 6, 2024 @ 9:00 am - April 7, 2024 @ 1:00 pm MST
Come join us for another Epic Overlanding Adventure traversing through Burro Creek (BLM) outside of Wikieup. We will camp both nights at the Burro Creek Campground surrounded by the beautiful Arizona landscape while enjoying some of the most incredible views of the night sky and the stars.
The trail rides are easy and scenic, suitable for any Jeep with offroad tires. The first part is through a narrow, sandy stream channel along a rocky terrain. Most of the rest of the trip is on maintained gravel roads, and easy to travel cow pasture.
Day 1 Saturday: Nothing, AZ (Highway 93) to Wikieup, AZ (Saturday April 6).
We will meet at Nothing, AZ at 9:00 AM. Nothing is located at mile post 148.5 about 5 miles west of the Junction of Highway 97 (Bagdad Road) and Highway 93. It is possible to do Day 1 without camping at the Burro Creek campground Friday night. You’ll just have a very long day since it will take approximately 2.5 hours to drive from Phoenix in the morning.
The day will be spent conquering easy and scenic off-road trails. We start at Nothing, drive west around Round Mountain in a stream bed in a narrow canyon, cross Burro Creek, turn north on Sycamore Canyon Rd., drive up the hill to Goodwin Mesa, then to Bogles Ranch Rd (across the Aquarius Mountains), and then to Upper Trout Creek. This trip is not in any of the guidebooks.
Day 2 Sunday: Seventeen Mile Road to Signal Road.
An easy ride on a graded gravel road with scenery all around that will take less than 3 hours to complete. We will Top off at Wickenburg before driving back to Burro Creek Campground or Nothing, AZ. Fuel can also be purchased at Wikieup, AZ.
You will need to bring enough food and drinks to sustain yourself, your passengers, and the means to cook it. The desert can get pretty cold at night in the winter, make sure you have warm sleeping bags or the means to heat your tents! There are a few spots available to accommodate RV’s as well.
!!!IMPORTANT!!!
There are only 17 campsites at the Burro Creek campground. Please reserve yours ASAP via the link below for Friday April 5th and Saturday April 6th:
