Today’s Adventure will take us to one of the most famous OHV trails in Arizona; Back Way to Crown King. People come from all over the country to experience this fun and scenic trail. It also happens to be on the Badge of Honor trail list as well!

I would rate this trail somewhere between 4 and 5. Many trail sections consist of narrow shelf road. Passing oncoming vehicles is a pain and the trail is very busy. Couple of rock gardens will do their best to slash your tires! There are about a dozen obstacles on this trail. The good news is that nearly all of them have bypasses.

There are two MANDATORY waterfall rocks towards the end. The first one is tall but easily passable using the right line. The second one is a non-issue for most Jeeps but a major PITA for Gladiators. I frequently get hung up on it even with 37-inch tires and nearly a 5-inch lift. Just be warned, if you have a Gladiator with sub 37 tires and sub 4.5 inch lift, you will risk damaging your drive shafts!

Assuming we don’t have to wait for the people in front of us and everyone makes it across without breakdowns, we should be done with the trail around 5:00sh. Bring lunch and plenty of drinks! We’ll also stop and grab a drink or two at the local bar in Crown King before heading out.

One last disclaimer! Weather forecast predicts warm weather with zero chance of snow. If we encounter ANY ice or deep snow near the top, I WILL TURN the group around. It could turn into a 10+ hour Adventure but I have done this trail with black ice on it and will NEVER DO IT AGAIN.
